Canon Dslr Travel Bag Considering Sony Alpha A100 DSLR -- How Important Is Image Stabilization?

Considering Sony Alpha A100 DSLR -- how important is image stabilization? - canon dslr travel bag

I am an amateur photographer looking for my first digital SLR to buy. Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 is built in image stabilization, but reports indicate that he noise at high ISO settings. How important it is for amateur photographers to improve the quality of the ISO on the Nikon and Canon? I travel a lot in developing countries, where it has generally not desirable, a tripod, it seems a great advantage. However, I want the people with more experience in photography in the event of a winding or hear if a better offer than the Rebel XT or D50/D80.

All the cameras you mentioned are of great value and good prices. Its strengths are reduced this:
If you want to expand and replace the cheap, get the Sony.
If you do a lot of night time photography, take the Canon.
If this is not given high priority to the Nikon D80.
And get the D50, if you have a tight budget, or need the (advanced) features of other models.

Sony A100:
The dpreview.com review of the A100 is a "highly recommended", but mentioned only produces sharp images up to ISO 400 You need to flash in the twilight and into the interior.
As with Sony Super SteadyShot "This is not a gimmick: It is over 2 steps slower than normal, which take a long zoom ideal.
---
Canon Rebel XT:
The Canon Rebel XT produces razor-sharp images to ISO1600 and used the results to the ISO-3200. The difference between ISO 400 (the clean image of Sony) and ISO 1600 (Canon's own image), two stops.
In theory, one side of a Sony or imagesand stabilize, you can slow the shutter speed from 1/60th to 1/15th receive the vaccine, and secondly, you have a Canon, you can use the ISO values and continue to shoot 1/60th.
In practice, the Sony is better for a long zoom and the Canon is better for low light.
With Canon you can also use the image stabilization in the form of expensive lenses. This would be the Canon the best from every situation.
Rebels is the only low-quality construction. You should take care a little.

Nikon D50 / D80:
I personally use a Nikon D200 when I read the details of the D80 with great interest. Of the four cameras, which you mentioned, the D80 is more advanced, better built, and the best means of the camera. It is also the most expensive of the four models.
Like the Canon, if you want the image stabilization you need to buy expensive lenses. In view of the high ISO performance, the half-way between the Sony and Canon. Latest Nikon produce sharp images up to ISO 800 and ISO 1600 images in use.
How oftenNo-low-light situations, to replace my f/2.8 zoom lens with 50mm f/1.4 lens most rapidly. You can do the same thing with Sony and Canon, so this does not alter the comparative advantage of these brands.
The D50 is less advanced and less expensive of four years. In fact, are the price and simplicity, the only thing in his favor. In addition, if not, you should have the features of other models, you may not pay for it ... With 6 megapixels, the D50 still produce high quality prints 8x10 inches.

Sony R1 Panacea:
Panacea is to link this thing a month and I've warned people for a month. The R1 is really a great camera for what it is, but it has serious limitations as compared to the digital SLR cameras. My main concern is that it uses an electronic viewfinder complaints. This viewer is a 1:10 seconds press delay to the eye - until you click the shutter. Thus it is a bad camera for the action scenes. It also has a poor performance against the digital SLR cameras in low light situations.

To be honest, I do not even dig a camera, but do not have much experience with vidcams. I Stormchaser vids (and one of my vidcams also takes still images @ 2 megs) and image stabilization is very important to me. Things are pretty crazy several times during the filming of a storm.

I had four points, because he would be the Canon image stabilization better when I bought my first in 1999 and is loaded with Canon.

If you can go into a store and try different brands, you may get a much better idea of what is good for you no answer here.

Good luck!

(I posted some photos on my page 360 / blog. Take a look if you are some pictures taken with Canon products. The new single was this vidcam Stills 2 Mbit / s data sheet.)

It is crucial that the A100 is a camera craptastic compared to other DSLR, and is a great disappointment. There are several things on tests that are simply not acceptable in the digital SLR cameras are displayed. The irony is that had the Sony DSC-R1, about all these problems and is a much better camera, even if a firm goal and is much cheaper. Please read these two reviews to see what I mean:

One thing is absolutely clear is that Sony CCD sensors for Nikon D series cameras made this work much better than the A100 (for problems with the A100 is the small sensor), but I wonder if these cameras are almost as good as the Initial model Canon DSLR that (with full frame CMOS - Sensor).

I want you in any case a Canon EOS 30D in the D-series or the A100:

Buy the camera as the only institution (success Lens Kitk) and get a decent lens separately. For about € 360, what I recommend:

In addition, the truck at your local store, Sony Style and play with the DSC-R1. You can have a better option than a DSLR camera for you.

I have serveral bad experiences with Sony engineering and construction quality. The IS feathure is a high-speed motor and control cables ASSISTANT sensor in the camera. Moving the sensor is not a good idea. If the mechanism is not for the reason that the camera is worthless. Not more than photography. End of the shooting. If you get a Canon or Nikon at the target and the IS in the lens can not continue to use the camera and lens. So all is not lost with a resolution of Canon or Nikon.

The Canon is great for night shoots. I have my 5D in the evening a fireworks without a tripod. I shot with ISO 3200 and the images are as good as shooting the movie in ISO 1600, with a tripod. What I have is slow, and I perfer my fast lenses for most of the big fire. Just use the old method of Zoom sneakers.

I have not shot with the Sony, but I turned with its predecessor, the Minolta Maxxum 5D, which proved to be an excellent device. The basics of the Sony are the same, so I feel good comment.

The stabilizer is the real deal. If you have a steady hand is worth three judgments of the actual speed of the target. If the opening is your f5.6 lens, the recording stabilzer without blur at shutter speeds, or you can get a F2 lens. It is a big difference, especially at longer focal lengths, where the motion blur ruins more pictures than any other topic. Consider the rule that was not the shutter speed below the target that is the focal length drops, so if you're objective, 300 mm, stay with the shutter speed below 1 / 250. A second and perhaps not so low. The stabilizer is the shutter speed to 1/125th useful, perhaps even 1 / 60, when the steady hand, I have mentioned. Your results may vary.

Another way to see who made that 400 ISO camera stabilzer sInherit well as in low light, at least 1600 in a non-stabilized camera / lens combination.

They are the real benefits are provided to show that I live in the fire. I shot a lot of races in the last few years, so I know how a telecommunications administration, and I'm not talking about theory here.

They say that a tripod is usually viable for you, so that the stabilizer makes it even more valuable.

In a very short time, have a couple of years in most or all SLR cameras a kind of stabilizer. We already see the number and cameras from Canon, Nikon and Fuji now. I think it would be useful.

BTW, the Canon 30D, Canon Rebel XT and the Nikon D50 and the D70 has a sensor APS-C size image, not the full 35-mm sensor.
